We are proud to announce that CAUSINDY has been confirmed as a finalist for the 2015 NSW International Student of the Year Awards.
The annual awards are an initiative of StudyNSW (NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet) to recognise outstanding contributions of education providers, businesses and community groups that support international students to connect with the community through programs and initiatives. CAUSINDY is one of three finalists in the Community Group category.
“We are proud to be recognised for the work we are doing creating stronger bilateral ties between Australia and Indonesia,” said conference Managing Director, Karina Akib.
“We hope that access to the expanding network of CAUSINDY delegates will benefit international students’ experience of Australia, not just during their time in study, but well into their careers,” Akib said.
Now in its third year, CAUSINDY continues to engage and support young professionals from New South Wales, Australia and Indonesia — our delegates (this year, in 2014 and in 2013) draw from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The conference brings 30 young leaders from Indonesia and Australia together for four days to discuss key issues in the relationship. An ongoing program of events throughout the year allows students and delegates to remain in touch.
CAUSINDY provides Indonesian delegates an enduring connection to Australia that can otherwise be lost after their study. The 2014 conference was attended by a strong representation of Indonesian international students studying in NSW and other NSW-educated individuals, with extremely positive results. Of the 2014 delegates, 42% said they will “definitely” pursue ideas and recommendations springing from the conference, while 74% said they are certain to remain close with their conference peers.
To ensure this ongoing engagement, CAUSINDY’s unique initiatives have extended well beyond the annual conference, to ongoing events for young professionals, and the development of an extensive network of leaders who are committed to strengthening the bilateral relationship.
This nomination also recognises the hard work of CAUSINDY’s passionate team of volunteers in planning and executing a high quality annual conference, together with surrounding events and opportunities which continue to bring young leaders together.
CAUSINDY will be partaking in the official award ceremony held at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday, 13 October 2015, where the award winners will be announced.
